The heartwarming programme, Penyerahan Daging Korban Sumbangan Kakitangan Kompleks Bersepadu Pengerang was held on 20 June 2024 at Masjid Lepau, Kampung Lepau in collaboration with PRefChem Amal Charity (PREACH). The programme was attended by En. Mohd Ridzuan Jalaluddin, Deputy Chairman of PREACH and supported by PRefChem CARES volunteers.

The programme has grown to be a significant PRefChem’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative following Hari Raya Korban’s celebration, reflecting our commitment to the well-being of the surrounding communities.

The day started with a breakfast session for villagers and volunteers before the korban activities commenced, involving the sacrifice of four cattle and six goats, along with one goat for Aqiqah. The slaughtered meat was then meticulously cut, packaged, and distributed to 100 villagers, including those from underprivileged communities.

This programme is not only an annual CSR initiative for PRefChem, but also an act of gratitude and care for the nearby communities, by sharing our blessings and standing together with them in solidarity and support.

On 14 February 2024, PRefChem together with PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (PRPC) and Pengerang Terminals (Two) Sdn. Bhd. (PT2SB) jointly organised a Chinese New Year (CNY) gathering with the Chinese communities in Pengerang.

About 90 attendees joined the celebration held at Jade Garden Seafood Corner, Sungai Rengit. PRefChem was represented by Mr. Ho Chee Sam, Head of Business & Services whilst Haji Izzuddin Abd Ghani, Head of Strategic Communications & Stakeholder Management of PRPC and Mr Aqeel Hussain, Chief Executive Officer of PT2SB were also in attendance. Joining them was Mr Lim Kim Hua, the Pengerang’s Chinese Community Leader.

The event kicked off with a mesmerising lion dance performance by Persatuan Seni Wei Wu Kota Tinggi, symbolising prosperity and good fortune for the year ahead. Haji Izzuddin Abd Ghani, who delivered the speech on behalf of the participating companies, expressed his appreciation to the Chinese communities in Pengerang for their continuous support to Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) and urged for the same commitment from the Operating Companies in PIC for other community efforts. Mr. Lim Kim Hua then thanked the organisers for the gathering which helped to foster solidarity and togetherness between PIC and the community.

The celebration continued with the handover ceremony of mandarin oranges to the community representatives followed by the traditional Yee Sang tossing ceremony and a delectable dinner.

This festive engagement activity with the Chinese communities in Pengerang is part of PRefChem’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme to strengthen our relationship with the surrounding communities by the act of sharing our blessings with the less fortunate.

On 27 March 2024, PRefChem organised a presentation ceremony for the Back To School programme at Dewan Sri Cendana, Kota Tinggi Education District Office (PPDKT). The symbolic event was attended by selected students and teachers representing the 331 recipients from 13 primary and 2 secondary schools around Pengerang. Each student received one set of school uniform, a pair of shoes with socks and a school bag.

En. Zamri Safri, Deputy District Education Officer, Planning Unit of PPDKT was present on behalf of Tuan Haji Mohamad Fadil Ishak, Kota Tinggi District Education Officer whilst PRefChem was represented by En. Haszny Hassan, Head of Human Resource and Pn. Hazryati Hamdan, Head of CEO’s Office.
In his welcoming remarks, En. Zamri Safri expressed appreciation to PRefChem for its continuous support and collaboration with PPDKT on educational related programmes and hope the smart partnership will continue for the benefit of the school children and educational quality in Kota Tinggi district particularly in Pengerang area.

When addressing the event attendees, En. Haszny Hassan highlighted the Back to School is one of PRefChem’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes under Education pillar, aimed for human capital development especially for the surrounding communities in Pengerang. “We hope PRefChem's support for these students will ease their families' financial burden and raise awareness about the importance of education for their future. Our goal is to nurture the young generation to be successful and virtuous individuals in line with the nation's aspiration” said En. Haszny.

On 2 April 2024, PRefChem organised a bubur lambuk gotong royong a concerted effort by PRefChem CARES volunteers, authorities’ representatives, and Kampung Pengerang’s community at Masjid Ar-Raudhah, Pengerang. The activity started in the morning with preparation of the bubur lambuk’s ingredients and it took nearly four hours to cook four big pots of bubur lambuk which were then packed for distribution.

Mr. Pieter Kuiken, CFO of PRefChem, En. Zackaria Abdullah, Head of HSSE and En. Nor Syamrin Wagirin, Area Head of Process Engineering were present at Masjid Ar-Raudhah to hand over bubur lambuk to authorities’ representatives within Pengerang vicinity and the leader of Kampung Pengerang, En. Ramzyiatul Fahmy Ramly. About 200 containers of bubur lambuk were also delivered and distributed at Kampung Lepau.

For PIC community, the distribution of bubur lambuk was held at Main Gate 1 and Main Gate 3 by the PRefChem Management who also took the opportunity to remind staff on road safety especially during the upcoming long hari raya balik kampung trips.
